Following the last time, let’s find out
5 more best Korean snacks that you have to eat in Korea.
Please refer to Part [1]:
6. Bungeoppang (Carp bread)
Bungeoppang is a fish-shaped pastry stuffed with
sweetened red bean paste. It is often sold at street stalls, grilled in an
appliance similar to a waffle iron, but with fish-shaped molds. Unlike its
name, it doesn’t contain cruician carp, but the name of the flour shell
containing the red bean resembles crucian carp. Although red bean paste is the
standard filling, many ‘bungeoppang’ that are sold as street food are filled
with pizza toppings, pastry cream, sweet potatoes, chocolate, and so on.
7. Hotteok (Korean pancake)
8. Songpyeon
Songpyeon is a
traditional Korean food made of glutinous rice. It is a type of ‘tteok’, small
rice cakes, traditionally eaten during the Korean autumn harvest festival, ‘Chuseok’.
It became a popular symbol of traditional Korean culture. Remove the rice flour
from the rice and mix it with the appropriate size. Add sesame seeds, beans,
mung beans, and chestnuts into a half-moon shape, spread the pine needles,
steam, rinse, and rain the sesame oil.
9. Sikhye
It is a drink I enjoyed as a dessert. Sikhey is believed to aid digestion;
it contains dietary fiber and anti-oxidants. It was regularly served to royalty
after meals to help digestion.
10. Dalgona
Dalgona is Korean confectionery which baked soda into
baked sugar and baked together. It is a snack that Korean children enjoyed in
the middle and late 1900’s because it was cheaper and tastier than ordinary
sweets. In the early 21st century, thanks to the retro fashion, I
was able to see the newsstand often on the downtown streets like In-sadong in
Seoul, and adults also bought more.
Now, I’ve learned Korean traditional snacks and
desserts. Those deserts are popular with foreigners not only Koreans. Korea’s
global popularity include, K-pop, foods, snacks, and desserts and so on. If you
have a chance to go to Korea, please try it!!
