Correct high-grade ptosis and identify individual factors
Ptosis
is a so-called 'sleepy looking eye', which is a condition in which the muscles
of the upper eyelid that lift the eyelids are weak and the eyes cannot open
properly. In this case, since it is difficult to open the eyes with only the
strength of the muscles, the eyes are opened using the power of the forehead or
eyebrows.
According
to the degree of ptosis, ptosis can be divided into mild, severe, and high
ptosis. Among them, high-grade ptosis is a condition in which the eyes hardly
open even when the eyebrows or forehead are applied, and when looking up and
down, the muscles do not have enough muscle strength or degenerate enough to
appear less up and down than the normal range, or there is little movement of
the eyelids. . In this case, when ptosis correction is performed to improve
general ptosis, the recurrence rate is high, so it is important to change the
surgical method according to the symptoms and severity of ptosis.
CFS
blepharoplasty, which improves advanced ptosis, is a surgical method using CFS
(conjoint fascia), which is a ligament-shaped structure in the eyelid. When
applied to ptosis, recurrence is small, cosmetic problems are solved, and the
result of side effects such as closure of the eyes is also very low.
Recently, ‘PRSKOREA 2021’, the annual academic conference of the Korean Society of Plastic Surgery, was held on November 3rd.
PRS
KOREA’ is the largest annual plastic surgery academic event hosted by the Korean Society of
Plastic Surgery, and is a joint international academic event hosted by the 5th
Asian Eye Surgery Forum. In addition, 1,300 people, including 150 foreign
doctors from 29 countries, participated, and Professor Yongbae Kim of WJ Wonjin
Plastic Surgery Clinic was appointed as the moderator of the 'Asian
Blepharoplasty Forum'.
Professor Kim Yong-bae of WJ Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic said, “CFS blepharoplasty is a surgical method that improves the aesthetically unsatisfactory problems such as the unnatural and inability to close the eyes of existing surgical methods. Establishing an appropriate surgical plan by identifying various factors such as the structure of the eye and ptosis symptoms can lead to a failure-free blepharoplasty,” he advised.
WJ
Wonjin provides a service that tests all five major corneal abnormalities with
a single genetic test to help patients undergoing eye surgery live a healthy
life, so that side effects that cause vision loss can be prevented through a
thorough preliminary examination.
