Then, a strut is placed to extend the length of the nose.”

When the nose tip length is insufficient, septal cartilage and wing cartilage is grafted to extend the nose tip. Septal cartilage is most commonly used when dealing with grafting procedures.


Know-how and experience is important
Nose extension is a difficult kind of rhinoplasty and as such requires extensive experience and know-how for optimal results. Skin of the nose tip is thin and inelastic. When an implant is inserted, it can cause stress on the nose tip and a side effect that can occur is redness and swelling. The best surgical method involves careful analysis of the current state of the nose while keeping realistic expectations to have natural and beautiful appearing nose.
