Foods you should avoid for medications!!!

Laxative (constipation medication) and milk
Milk is weakly alkaline and neutralizes gastric acid. However, this interrupts the laxative to reach the intestine causing stomach ache and remedial effect degradation. Also, it is recommended to check before taking antibiotics and antifungal agents as milk may hinder the proper absorption of these medications.

Antihypertensive drug and banana
When taking you hypertension medications, it is best not to eat banana as it includes high potassium. Diuretic component in antihypertensive drug blocks the potassium excretion from our body. This would increase the potassium concentration rate within our body, and therefore leading to hyperkalemia.

Antianxiety drugs, hyperlipidemia drugs and grapefruitA
These medications are not an ideal combination with grapefruit. The flavonoid component in grapefruits deters enzyme actions which affect the drug metabolism within the liver, or, excessively increases the remedial effect. Grapefruits also have effects on immunosuppression and sleeping pills.

Antidepressant and wine
Taking MAOls (antidepressant) and wine/beer at the same time can rapidly increase the blood pressure up to hazard rate. This happens when MAOls and tyramine component are combined together. Aside from beer and wine, since tyramine is also included in kimchi, cheese and dried fruits, it is important to inquire the doctor on the foods that should be avoided when taking antidepressants.
