Food that are good for your skin



Simply by changing your eating habit and enjoying what you eat can improve your skin. Dermatologist, Dr. Howard Murad has introduced different types of food that are good for healthy skin.


Watermelon, cucumber, tomato, zucchini, eggplant and carrot:
They all provide moisture into our body, resulting in smooth and elastic skin. For better understanding, imagine a wet sponge and a dried out sponge. Drinking water also helps, but, these foods actually stay inside your body for a longer period assisting in cell formation. They are also rich in fiber.





Salmon, olive oil, flaxseed and walnut:
These foods include anti-oxidant ingredients, which controls inflammatory causes of acne or pimple. Also, omega3 is beneficial for keeping moisture within your skin, which helps in regenerating cell membrane.





Tomato, broccoli, mango, strawberry, watermelon, green tea and pomegranate:
They have the effect of UV protection. This doesn’t mean that you can stop applying your daily sunscreen. However, by consuming these foods will help prevent skin aging from UV-rays. The rich anti-oxidant components help control active oxygen, which causes brown pigmentations and saggy skin. Pomegranate is the best out of a list of fruits, since it has the most amounts of polyphenol and ellagic acid that are strong ingredients for anti-aging.





Kale, spinach, kumara, carrot and cantaloupe:
All of these foods contain high level of vitamin A, very effective in improving dead skin cells. When dead skin cells are revived, the overall tone of your skin will also change. If the color of our skin is orange, consumption of these foods is highly recommended.





Egg, beans and other seeds:
They bring up the level of collagen, regaining skin elasticity. Once collagen begins to age, wrinkles will start forming. This is why people receive filler and botox treatments to make their skin smooth and youthful again. However, you can increase the level of collagen by simply consuming foods that are rich in amino acid and protein.
