It is caused due to several innate or acquired factors that weaken the eye elevating muscle which lifts the upper eyelids, making the eyelids to droop down. Usage of eyelid tapes or glues for a longtime, rubbing habits etc., could be one of the factors that cause blepharoptosis.

People with blepharoptosis have sleepy impression since the upper eyelids cover a large portion of the pupils, and are more prone to forehead wrinkles since they raise the forehead to keep their eyes open. ptosis correction

Ptosis correction is a type of eye surgery that strengthens the eyes by correcting length of the orbital fascia and muscle used to elevate the upper eyelids.
The surgery could be done through either incisional or non-incisional method depending on the person’s skin condition.

If one has thin skin and little fat deposits, then the ptosis is easily corrected through non-incisional method which only requires tiny holes to correct the muscle.
However, on severely droopy cases or for those with thick and fatty skin, fat tissues and excessive muscles should be removed first through incisional method.
There are cases wherein ptosis correction alone cannot improve the symptom, and in this case, double eyelid surgery or epicanthoplasty should be performed together.
