Personal facial features: the determining factor for rhinoplasty

Perception of plastic surgery has become much positive over the years and so many individuals choose to improve their insecurities through it. Among many surgeries, the eyes and nose have proven to be most popular as even with little change, one’s impression can improve completely.

The nose is at the center of the face and it has the crucial role of giving the face definition. Also men and women alike, prefer noses that are high and slim. Hence, as individual’s can change their way they are perceived with a slight change of the nose, regardless of gender, many undergo rhinoplasty.

According to a medical staff “in order to be satisfied with the results after surgery, it is important to choose an implant that fits the individual’s condition, such as width of their nose bridge and their skin. Also, if the individual’s features and overall balance is not taken into consideration, it can result in an unnatural looking impression which can lead to a revision surgery. Hence, it is advised to wisely make a decision.”

There are many different types of surgeries that can be performed depending on the individual’s nose type, for example: hooked nose, upturned nose, bulbous nose, deviated nose and etc.

For hooked nose, a hump is located in the middle of the nose bridge forming a harsh image. Therefore, the hump should be shaved down but in severe cases, the surgery correcting it will differ.

In the cases for upturned nose, it’s short and the nostrils are visible. However, if you use an implant to elevate the nose, the tip will become more raised and shorter. Hence, a different approach will have to be taken.

Bulbous noses are round and flat so the cartilage should be corrected and the fat layer underneath the skin should be removed to make an improvement.

For deviated nose, as it is slanted to one side, it could potentially cause blocked nose, headaches and breathing problems. Therefore, it is best to improve both the function and the shape of the nose by performing functional rhinoplasty for best effects.

Thus, as there are many different methods for surgery depending on the individual’s nose, it is important to accurately examine and give a diagnosis with 3D-CT scan before the surgery. Furthermore, individuals should decide carefully by checking if the hospital has a proper safe system as well as providing aftercare so that they can prevent any side effects.
