Lip Surgery

Question: I am a college student and considering getting fat grafting for my lips. My friend recently got filler and I'm debating. My friend tells me to get filler but I'm wondering more about fat grafting and how long it lasts.

Answer: For fat grafting, the fat is extracted from the thighs or abdomen or other areas with much fat, and inserted into the face. No incision is made during the treatment so there will only be needle marks. Sometimes when there needs stitching, the thread will be removed 2 days after so the recovery time is very short for fat grafting.

The lasting period is 3-5 years but it may vary from patient to patient. It is also important not to rub the area after the treatment and you must avoid massages for 1-2 months.

Areas for fat grafting:
a. forehead
b. cheeks
c. nose
d. smile lines (around the nose)
e. chin
f. eyelids
g. below the eyes
h. lips

For those who are more interested in filler, there are a few types of fillers. Short term, middle, and long term fillers. The great thing about this treatment is that it only take 15 minutes with cream anesthesia. The recovery time is close to none and it lasts for about 1 year.

The lasting term may depend on the patient so it is best to receive a consultation before getting any sort of treatment.
